From the mysterious island nation of Bali we have the shimmering many storied pagoda known here as the Emerald Temple. Rising toward the heavens on a small peninsula in a peaceful lagoon Emerald Temple evokes all the wonder of fabled Asian lands. The beauty of its pleasing shape is reflected in the calm of the waters beneath. We view the scene from behind a grove of bamboo trees.

The temple is interpreted in beautiful silks and metal threads. the palette is mostly monochromatic, ranging from the deepest emeralds through lively teal tones and shading into the palest of aquas for the sunset sky. the composition is cheered by a bit of yellow and gold. The temple itself is worked in diaper pattern couching on gold braided thread.

Travel is my passion, and the mystic lands of Asian beckon especially to me. Emerald Temple is the third in a series of embroideries expressing the Asian theme; the others are Amethyst Pavilion and Garnet Torii.
